Deadline for Entries is
March 15, 2008

Topic is:
"The Person Who Influenced My
Love of Irises"

To begin your essay, write down things about this person that makes them special to you, what they have done more than anyone else to encourage you, teach you, show you, etc.  Take some of these ideas and write sentences to support your ideas.  Pick one idea to start the first paragraph, and explain yourself a little.  Take some of the other ideas and make up the middle of your essay.  Then, conclude your essay with sentences that support everything you’ve written.

Be careful!  Your essay must be 500 words or less, and I know there are so many things about irises that I like that I could write much more than 500 words!  Your essay must be in your own words, but an adult, such as your parents or a teacher can help you check your punctuation and spelling.  Double-check everything before you send in your final draft.
